Yasis Plushie Workshop

Watching how a plushie is made can be interesting, but learning-by-doing is always the best idea if you want to create your own ones.

Yasi, who has been sewing plushies and other textile craftpieces professionally for several years, will show you within this workshop step by step how a plushie comes to live. Within a small group, you learn the most important tips and can get personalized help and advice directly.

Registration is required. Also, a small fee of 5 € has to be paid to cover material costs. If there are any free seats left, registration is possible during GalaCon at the vendor table of „Yasis Plushie Atelier“.

CCG Workshop

The official MLP:FIM Collectible Card Game has been an important part of our program for several years, sometimes just as a presentation or sometimes even with official tournaments.

This year, we will be featuring a CCG Workshop next to our regular game pesentation. Taking place several times over the weekend, professional players introduce you to the game or improve your skills. As usual, there is time to practice between the workshop parts and a specialized vendor will provide cards and supplies.

Pen & Paper Workshop

Tails of Equestria is a interactive storytelling game set in the magical, pony inhabitated world we all know and love. The players take the roles of pony characters, like pegasi, earth ponys and unicorns. One player is the gamemaster, who acts as the narrator, impersonating all the supporting characters, antagonists and advancing the story. Together you solve mysteries, fight monsters and tell your very own story. The rules determine what each character is able to do and dice are thrown to decide if he succeeds with an action or not, ultimately influencing how the story unfolds.

In this workshop you will learn the basic rules of the game, create you own personal pony-character and play a short introductory adventure. The workshop will be held in english or german, if all participants of a session are fluent in the latter. Please note that you need to be able to speak freely in one of these langauges to effectively participate in the game.

You can register via this form.

Panels und Shows

The Roleplayer’s Survival Guide

The whole fandom is talking about the new Pen & Paper Roleplaying Game, but isn´t this a bit too lenghty and complicated for the everyday Brony? Should´t this be left to the professionals?

No – and Daj will tell you why. In his panel, he will give you an overview about roleplaying and it´s most crucial features. With his years of experience, he will show you how to start and to dive deeper into the game.

Of course, you will get the chance to ask any questions to get more and more familiar with roleplaying.

If you are interested in the new Pen & Paper Roleplaying Game, please also have a look at the workshop regarding this topic.

Friendship is Epic by Jyc Row

Jyc Row will present a fan game he has been working on for a long time – Friendship is Epic. Besides giving insights into the work of the developing team, he will give you a first look at the overall gameplay, the concept and the different playable characters.

For more information about the game, please visit fie.main.jp/b/en/.

Equestria Stories Arts Panel

The team of Equestria Stories is returning to GalaCon! Of course most of you know their work from drawings to comics – that has also found it´s way into our convention art repository.

This year, they will dive deeper into the art of drawing and painting, explaining you all the important steps from sketching over lines and coloring to shading.

For their presentation, they will use Adobe Photoshop®.

Make sure to get a glance at their artwork at estories.deviantart.com.

Family Feud

Starweardo is bringing his beloved game show „Family Feud“ back to GalaCon!

The concept is known from international television and as interesting as it´s easy: 100 Bronies were asked the questions included in the show. The candidates have to guess which answer was most frequently given and collect points according to the position of their answer within the ranking.

A video of the great show at last year´s GalaCon is available at our YouTube-Channel.

Dori-tos Comic Panel

Meet one of the greatest artists throughout the fandom at GalaCon! Dori-to is a well-known comic artist, e.g. creator of the comic series „Silly Lyra“. With his unique style he has been entertaining the community for many years now and will be sharing his art and techniques with you in his comic panel. Get a glance at his art on his DeviantArt site: http://dori-to.deviantart.com/!

Music and Animations with OhPonyBoy

OhPonyBoy is one of the most famous musicians animation and PMV artists within our community. But besides his „My Little Pony“-themed work, he has also done some great artwork and music that is known around the world.

In his panel, he will show you how he creates animations and PMVs and also present two new albums.

Don´t miss the chance to meet this great artist at GalaCon!

My Little Origami

Amongst our panels had been many different types of art – drawing, music, animation or crafts. This year, Malte is going to surprise you with his Origami skills – a japanese art of folding paper into small creatures or other objects.

Don´t miss this interesting experience when pieces of paper are magically transformed into MLP:FIM characters!

The Art of Writing

Redhatbrony, a well-known German fanfiction author, will bring the importance of good characters within the creation of fanfiction to you.

In his panel, he will especially point out which traits and flaws are important for which character and how you can design and create a character that is interesting to the reader and fits into the overall story.

Also, he will explain the Jung archetypes as a vector of writing, which are an important tool to create a consistent story.

Make it Rhyme!

Humanarian, a fanfiction author and poet, will present his lyric skills to you as he is holding a master-class panel about poetry.

Not only will he talk about poetry within the show and the fandom in general, including show song lyrics and quotes, but he will also bring some of his own artworks wo you and present funny and short on-cue poems and riddles about the show characters.

I Get That Reference!

The people behind the show grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, and therefore they have filled their work with a myriad of references that some might catch and other might not. There are the ones everybody knows („Winter is Coming“, The Lebowski Ponies) and the very obscure and stealthy ones (Starswirl the Bearded creating a spell to make pottery, making him into a Hairy Potter). The show gives plenty of material to discuss about references from movies, TV Shows, books, and pop culture in general, and this panel will be all about that. When are references relevant?

Will they manage to stay timeless or will they be dated with time? Are they a mere distraction or do they serve to move the story forward?

This interesting panel will be a short and closer discussion with bigger involvement of the audience. After a short look at the most obvious and rather hidden pop culture references, you will have the chance to participate in the discussion and bring in cour own knowledge and ideas.

Pony Fights

Back to GalaCon is the successful Game Show „Pony Fights“ – now even better, faster and with lots of new questions! Competitors from the audience are asked questions about the fandom they have to argue about. The audience is in charge of choosing who has the better arguments and wins the round!

Community Musician Panel

GalaCon features many musicians, mostly performing as a DJ or artist at our Gala Ball or Gala Party. Now, you can get to know them better at our Community Musician Panel, where you will find many of them united to present their art, community life and career.

Of course, there is also a lot of time for questions you always wanted to ask.

Orchestral Composition and Music Analysis

Especially taking into account the great work of Daniel Ingram, music is a very important part of MLP:FIM and also the community.

In this panel, the team will show you a deep analysis of a show song and how it fits into the overall context of the series, showing that there is much more to it than you might have known. Building up on that, they will also present how to compose a small piece of music suited for a certain purpose.

This panel is our definite recommendation for everyone who loves music!

Elkias Creative Writing Panel

Elkia is a Dutch fanfiction author who is currently studying Dutch, English and History. His many fanfictions about My Little Pony are not only very creative and entertaining, but also inspiring in many ways.

In his panel, he will present to you the main parts of creating a storyline and turning it into a whole piece of art.

Ambient.White – Game/Dev Panel

The Ambient Project members have been work on a next-generation game, including many talented creators, musicians, programmers, writers and others.

At GalaCon, they will present live demos and gameplays of their brand new title „Ambient.White“ and show how you can contribute to their work.

They have also presented their really exceptional and magnificent fan game at BABSCon 2017.

You can get a glance at their work on the Stream Greenlight site of the project: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=557627228

Making Of A GalaCon Promo

For three years now, DSC-Graphics, Aques Levaro and their team have been working on our GalaCon promo clips that introduce the crowdfunding campaign and the „crunch mode“ of our convention.

If you have ever wondered how they turn our crazy ideas and demands into a conclusive and entertaining masterpiece, then this is your chance!

The studio will present their work from an early storyboard to the last finishing steps and answer all of your questions. Of course they do not only work on the GalaCon promo clips, so expect more!

P.A.B.S. Animation Panel

The P.A.B.S. team is returning to GalaCon, showing more of their work on „Fallout: Equestria“ and their 3D series!

Using SFM, they have developed new and innovative models and experienced new ways to boost their project.

This panel is not only recommendable for anyone who would like to stay tuned about the „Fallout: Equestria“ Project, but also for anyone who likes SFM animations.
